Obituary for Daniel Stewart Barnes Jr.

Daniel S. Barnes, Jr. died on December 27, 2018 in West Hills, California at the age of 87. Daniel was born in Pasadena, California on August 13, 1931 to Daniel Barnes, Sr. and Vera Barnes. After graduation from Santa Monica High School, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War. Upon honorable discharge, he joined the Los Angeles City Fire Department where he served 28 years rising to his aspired rank of Engineer before retiring. After his retirement, he worked as a Fire Safety Officer performing safety management on film sets. Concurrent with his years as a firefighter and beyond his retirement from LAFD, he was a licensed contractor working on residential, commercial and security projects.
Daniel married Kathryn Bjoraker in Dodge Center, Minnesota on October 31, 1964. They had two children, Cindy Zicker and Daniel Barnes III and four grandchildren. He was a beloved family man above all else and will be sorely missed.
Preceded in death by his son, Daniel the III, Daniel Jr. is survived by his wife, Kathryn; daughter, Cindy; grandsons – Gregory Zicker, Thomas Zicker, Daniel Barnes IV, and Joshua Barnes; sister, Barbara Barnes; and daughter-in-law, Laura Barnes.
