Domingo was born in the town of Pateros, Metro Manila, Philippines on December 20, 1946. He immigrated to the United States in the early 1970s and spent 30 years of his life as a culinary chef. His longest professional stint was at The Ginger Man in Beverly Hills, a restaurant owned by actors Carroll O’Connor and Patrick O’Neal. Domingo’s love for making meals for others extended to numerous family celebrations, where cooking was an all-day affair. His relatives enjoyed the meals of pancit palabok, morcon, and especially suman that he would prepare at Christmastime.
Domingo was the original U.S. custodian of the icon of Santa Marta, patron saint of Pateros, Manila. Domingo was a devout follower of Santa Marta and took delight in planning and celebrating the yearly fiesta for Pateros townmates living in Southern California.
He lived in many places in the Los Angeles area, and loved walking and exploring the neighborhoods, particularly in his later years. He was no doubt a familiar sight, wearing a cap over his shaved head, with tinted eyeglasses, and a sleeveless shirt that bared his tattoos.
Domingo was a quiet man with a kind and understanding soul, always forgiving and never wanting others to worry about him. So many family and friends are grateful to Domingo. May he rest in peace.
