Jon Jenkins

Jenkins, Jon Patrick
Born January 12, 1954 in Rockford, Illinois to A. W. Jenkins and Patricia Jenkins. Died February 22, 2022 in North Hollywood, CA. Jon moved to Van Nuys, CA with his parents and sister when he was seven years old. Jon went to Van Nuys High School.
He is survived by his sister Susan Windhauser Parks and brother-in-law Woodrow Parks, nephews Scott and Bradley Windhauser, nephew Michael and Heather Jenkins, niece Julie Collins, nephew Richard Jenkins and numerous other nieces and nephews, dear friends Bill Kemp and Desiree and Paul Levine. Jon had three older brothers David, Jim and Mike who preceded him in death. Jon was married to Suzanne Beverino who passed away in 2000. He was in a significant other partnership with Jeri Batzdorf until her passing in 2017.
Jon worked for many years with his brother Mike in his sign business in North Hollywood, CA installing signs. A big account was ARCO gas stations.
Jon also worked for Gannett Outdoor Advertising installing billboard signs. He decided to change professions when he and his partner were shot at one day when they were at the top of the billboard just finishing the job!
Jon also worked at the studios breaking down movie sets. He really enjoyed his job, but he said it was grueling work. He hurt his back and had to go on disability. During this time, he decided to try another vocation and that was teaching.
Jon had all of the credentials to teach anything to do with electrical work. He started teaching at the Los Angeles Unified Division of Adult and Career Education North Valley Occupational Center and East Los Angeles Occupational Centers.
Jon loved his job teaching. He enjoyed his relationships with his fellow teachers and the many students he taught and trained for a rewarding career.
Jon loved music and the history of rock and roll. He had an extensive record collection and owned many classic guitars. He also enjoyed collecting coins.
Jon was a very kind and generous person with a wonderful sense of humor. Rest in peace my brother. I shall miss you all the days of my life.
