Dave Rodriguez passed away on November 25, 2023, in Reseda California. He was born in Fort Morgan, Colorado on November 28, 1934, to Andres Rodriguez and Micaela Trujillo. He spent his youth in Colorado with some time in Nebraska where he enjoyed playing outside with his siblings and helping his family work as migrant farmers. He loved playing baseball and basketball in high school and he enjoyed his time working alongside his father as a team making cinder blocks.
At the age of 19, he enlisted in the Marines for three years and made the rank of Sergeant where he served in Korea. After he completed his time serving his country he started working for Douglas Aircraft where he met his sweetheart Yvonne Jones. They were married in the Los Angeles Temple for time and all eternity and this past year they celebrated their 64th anniversary.
To say that Dave was an involved father and grandfather is an understatement. He consistently showed up and loved his posterity, and they loved him. He went to countless basketball, football, and soccer games. He went to cheer and track meets. He took family road trips, celebrated birthdays, and rallied spirits when they were low. He made sand castles at the beach, created shade in the back of his truck between games, and was always early.
Dave was a faithful and steadfast member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in one capacity or another all of his days. His dedication and love of the Gospel of Jesus Christ was displayed with his kindness and love for everyone he came across. He volunteered without being asked and did so with a
happy desire. He served in the Boy Scouts of America and received the Silver Beaver Award. He also helped his son John and grandson Kyle become Eagle Scouts. He was also able to serve two 18-month missions with his wife Yvonne, first in Honduras, and then stateside in San Fernando, California.
Dave is survived by his wife, Yvonne Rodriguez; his children, Shannon Deever [Dave],
Bonnie Harrison [Mark], and John Rodriguez; his 8 grandchildren: Katie Lewis [Mike],
Alexa Gamez, Kyle [Andrea], Maggie, Nicole, Emily Ruiz [Manuel], Crystal, and Ashley
and his 10 great-grandchildren; also his siblings: Victor, Jovita Walker [Mark], Pauline
Disinger [Eugene], Mary Williams [Mike], Rose Bjarke [George] and Juanita Williams
[John] He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: John. Richard, Daniel,
Andrew and Gerald, Suzanne Bosher [Tom], Linda Close, Way [Gerald, Jack], Sandra
and Amelia Resendez [Maler].
Dave wore many hats. Whether you knew him as Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother,
Friend, disciple of Christ, inevitably he is missed and loved so much. We all look
forward to the day that we are able to see and be with him again.
