Emeterio Corpus, 97, of Canyon Country, CA passed away peacefully at home on November 8, 2021.
Born in Likab, Nueva Ecija, Philippines on August 14, 1924 where he lived with family until the outbreak of WWII during which he served as a Civilian Guerrilla during the years of Japanese Occupation. Upon arrival of U.S. Forces, he was a Philippine Scout during the Freedom fighting in the Philippines thru the fight to Okinawa. Served in the US Army after the ware as a Mess Sargent, Canine Handler and Security Guard at Subic Bay Navel Base until immigrating to the U.S. in 1981. Emeterio was highly respected within the Philippine Community, affectionately known as the "Commander" from his wartime exploits.
Following the war, he returned home to Likab, Nueva Ecija, met and married the love of his life, Aurea Buenavista.
Emeterio is survived by his way of 71 years, 10 children; Dorine (Bob), Josephine (Eddie), Laulhati (Mike), Marvin (Agnes), Nelson (Lynn), Dolores (Richard), Corazon (Demetrio), Joel (Lannie), Catherine, and Gemmalyn (Man) as well as thirty-six (36) grandchildren and eighteen (18) great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Demterio, in 2004.
