Flora Powell

Geneva McComas Powell, of Los Angeles, CA, passed away on Tuesday, February 4th, 2020, at the young age of 91. Funeral services will be conducted from 9:30am to 10:30am Saturday, February 15 at George C. Martin Funeral Home, with Pastor Tim Hamilton officiating. Gravesite services will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, in Tipp City, Ohio.
She was born April 25, 1928 in Midkiff, West Virginia, the first child of the late Lonnie and Dorcie Parsons McComas. She was the widow of Clyde Powell and they lived in Dayton, Ohio. She was also preceded in death by siblings Alene McComas Roy (Jack), Lorene McComas Kiser (Willis) and Jimmy McComas (Doris). Survivors include her son Steve Yeager and daughter-in-law Charlene, three beloved grandsons, Stephen Jr., Joshua and Evan, and two great granddaughters Brooklyn and Selah, of Los Angeles, CA. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews in Lincoln County, West Virginia and in the Dayton, Ohio area. After retirement from General Motors, she enjoyed traveling, visiting her family in California, camping and bluegrass music family get-togethers. She graduated from Guyan Valley High School in Branchland, WV. Geneva grew up attending Camp Branch United Baptist Church in Branchland, WV. She later attended Northridge Freewill Baptist Church in Dayton, Ohio.
She became an avid sports fan because of her son’s love of sports. As a super fan of the LA Dodgers, the team her son played for, she arranged many times for family to join her to watch him play baseball. Geneva’s laughter, smile and loving presence will never be forgotten.
