Maria Midkiff

In loving memory of Maria Elena Midkiff
Maria Elena‘s story begins in Guayaquil, Ecuador on December 14, 1945. She was the youngest of four to parents Guadalupe Benigna Egas and Hector Contreras Carpio.
Maria Elena’s greatest love was her mother. Not only were they mother and daughter, they were also best friends and life partners. Maria Elena devoted her life to her mothers care and well being. As desired, she will be laid to rest along with her beloved mother.
After graduating from Colegio Germania, in Ecuador, María Elena relocated to the United States, where she continued her education and received her college degree in Finance. She had a long and successful career as a Financial Analyst with Northrop Grumman, a place she considered her second home.
Maria Elena was a woman of faith, devout and very spiritual. She was known to be very generous, caring, loving, happy, funny, intelligent, kind, strong-willed, hard-working, self-sufficient, friendly, and definitely a fighter! At times very stubborn, definitely a tough cookie.
Maria Elena made many lifelong friends. She lived life to the fullest, loved music, dancing, shopping and traveling. Looking beautiful and dressing up was always high on her list. She loved going out and socializing with her friends.
María Elena was a proud and loving mommy to her two four-legged babies, Tina and Toby, whom she adored and spoiled.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Guadalupe and Hector, and her oldest brother, Jorge. She is survived by her sister Laura, brother Hector, as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins and other dear family members and friends.
María Elena loved life and refused to give up. She fought a long and hard battle with cancer and complications after a bone marrow transplant earlier this year. María Elena was called home by her Heavenly Father on July 17, 2019. Close friends and loved ones remained by María Elena’s side until she succumbed.
Maria Elena touched many lives and accomplished many things. One song in particular describes her very well...“My Way”. For sure she loved life and DID IT HER WAY! She was a wonderful woman who was loved, is already missed and will always be cherished. May she rest in peace.
