Pearl Hoover

Pearl Hoover was born in 1924 near Mankato, Minnesota. She was the 4th of 6 children, which made her the leader of the "little kids." Even though Pearl's family struggled during the depression, she and her siblings had a childhood filled with fun and adventure.
In 1942, Pearl graduated from high school with honors and was given a full scholarship to study nursing at the University of Minnesota. It was here that she met her husband, Roy Hoover at a 10 cent dance. Shortly after they met Pearl graduated with a B.S. in Neuropsychiatric Nursing.
Pearl and Roy married in 1948 and moved to California in 1951. Pearl became a nursing supervisor at the VA hospital in West Los Angeles. They moved to Reseda in 1953. Shortly after moving, their first child, Helen was born in 1953 and in 1955, their son Bill was born.

Bill, her son died suddenly in 1974 at the age of 19, Which was devastating for the family, but especially for Pearl.
In 1974 her beloved husband of 39 years died of pancreatic cancer. He was a wonderful, benevolent person who made every room he entered kinder and smarter.
